The themed charcuterie boards are some of my favorite things to do. They’re fun to put together and even more fun to eat! Now I know that when you see one finished it can sometimes be hard to know where to start, but making this Christmas tree charcuterie platter is actually really easy!
I’ve included all the steps you need to get started, along with some ideas for fruits, nuts, meats, and cheeses to use! The great thing about charcuterie boards, though, is that you can easily customize them to your liking! So feel free to swap any of the items below for your favorite holiday treats! Whether you’re a seasoned deli veteran or this is your first time making a plank, it’s sure to be a hit. It’s a surefire way to impress your guests (and please their stomachs).
Let’s start with the advice!
First, you will need the table itself. I would recommend using a rectangular charcuterie board to match the size and shape of the Christmas tree. You can also use a rectangular cutting board!

Rectangular Charcuterie Board

20×12 inch Cherry Wood JK Adams Grafton Serving Board
The rectangular shape of this board makes it ideal for Christmas tree charcuterie! Cherry wood is gorgeous and sure to be a staple on any holiday dinner table.
Work from top to bottom
Let’s start! To start making your Christmas tree charcuterie, add a thin layer of almonds at the top. You can also use other varieties of nuts, such as nut or pecan nuts.
Use cinnamon almonds for your Christmas tree charcuterie
If you really want to be festive, try using cinnamon almonds! These are one of my favorite Christmas treats. Impossible to stop in front of their sweet flavor and caramelized texture. You can easily make a batch in your slow cooker using my recipe here.
Add meat and olives
To continue creating the shape of the Christmas charcuterie, add layers of green olives and prosciutto under the almonds. These are the meats I used, but feel free to swap them out for your favorite type!
- Italian dry salam
- Prosciutto
The prosciutto is soft and flavorful, while the dry Italian salame is loaded with delicious spices! Both add great complementary flavors to the rest of the array elements. If you can’t find prosciutto, you can also use sliced pepperoni.
The next layer for your Christmas tree charcuterie board – Fruit!
You can never go wrong with fresh fruit! This is usually what my family will do to fend for themselves while dinner is still cooking. To add a splash of color and fresh flavor, here are the fruits I used. Again, feel free to replace them with your favorites! Grapes and sweet cranberries are great holiday options.
- Kiwi fruit
- blueberries
- Raspberries
- Green olives

Give me the cheese!
Adding cheese to your Christmas tree charcuterie board is a great way to play with flavors and textures. (And if you’ve been eyeing a delicious fancy cheese at the grocery store, here’s a chance to use it!)
- Cranberry Wensleydale
- Small Pearls of Mozzarella Cheese
- slices of muenster cheese (cut in the shape of a snowflake and a star)
Christmas is the perfect time to use all things cranberry. Wensleydale is a firm, nutty cheese and the tart cranberry flavor complements it perfectly! Mozzarella balls are a must (Hi, creamy milky goodness!) and muenster slices are perfect for cutting into shapes. Stars are the cutest finishing touch to your charcuterie tree!

Star Shaped Cookie Cutters

You will want to use small star shaped cookie cutters for your cheese details. I love this set with a variety of different sizes and shapes!
Don’t forget the crackers!
Here are some other things I used for the layers of this Christmas tree! I love adding crackers, chips, and pretzels to my charcuterie boards because of their salty flavor and delicious crunch.
- round crackers
- pretzel sticks
Salty things like crackers, chips and nuts are perfect to add to your charcuterie platter as they balance out the sweetness of the fruit. You can replace the round crackers with another variety such as Triscuits, Club crackers or pita chips. If you want more candy on your board, you can also use cookies or biscuits!
The finishing touch – sprigs of rosemary!
Not only do the rosemary sprigs smell amazing, they’re the cutest finishing touch to this Christmas tree charcuterie board! They look like small tree branches!

Assemble your Christmas tree charcuterie board
Here are all the steps together to make your charcuterie making process flawless! Trust me, once you make your first charcuterie board, you’ll be hooked. It’s so much fun! And the end result is delicious, which certainly doesn’t hurt.
- Start with the almonds: On a large rectangular wooden board, start at the top of the almond tree.
- Green olives: Then create layers underneath to create a Christmas tree shape followed by the green olives.
- Slices of prosciutto: Add the prosciutto underneath.
- Fruit: Then add your raspberries.
- Cheese: Continue with a layer of mozzarella pearls.
- Repeat Layers: Add layers of salame, blueberries, Wensleydale cheese with cranberries, kiwi fruit, then round crackers on the bottom.
- Cut out star shapes: Cut muenster cheese into slices with snowflake and star shapes, then add to tray.
- Finish with rosemary: Then garnish the tree with rosemary.
